Israel / United Arab Emirates Peace Plan
As of Thursday, August 13th, Israel came to a diplomatic agreement with the nation of The United Arab Emirates agreeing to “full normalization of relations.” This agreement will affect investment, tourism, security, technology, energy, and other areas, while allowing direct flights between the two countries and the establishment of reciprocal embassies. In the consideration of this agreement, Israel will forego, for now, plans to annex occupied West Bank territory. The focus of Israel’s efforts will be expanding ties with other countries in the Arab and Muslim world.
For Israel, this agreement does represent the first public normalization of relations with any of the Persian Gulf monarchies, which has been a long-sought goal. Israel achieved recognition of its neighbors (Egypt and Jordan) years ago, but the recognition of the oil rich monarchies has been a fleeting missing piece of the puzzle in establishing peace with its Arab neighbors surrounding Israel.
Because this agreement has been hailed by the news media as “The Peace Plan,” we at In the Season Ministries have received numerous calls asking what our take is on this event. As followers of Bible prophecy, we realize, at some point a Peace Agreement will be signed between Israel and the Antichrist, but it will be an agreement between the Middle East and Israel – not an individual nation and Israel. Also, it will have a time frame of 7 years attached to it.
There is no doubt that behind the scenes an overall peace agreement is in the works. I firmly believe these current events are a fore-shadowing or a building block of that agreement, but we discourage reading too much into the events at hand. We are experiencing birth-pains as the nearness of Jesus’ coming approaches.
It is exciting to see the Bible being fulfilled in our lifetime.
Luke 21: 28 Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.
